“Keep Good Company” is one of Joel’s favorite quotes. It encourages to spread love to others while also remembering to love yourself and honoring self-respect.

Joel is an Actor, Singer, Dancer and Creator from Jacksonville Florida. He was raised not only by his parents and family, but also by the village of people that made him who he is today. With him being an only child, a lot of his friends and close family friends are very important to him. He began his Theatre journey by starting in Summer Theatre camps and Church and school plays. His parents put him in Theatre because they believed that it was a good outlet and a great way for him to gain confidence. He was involved in Boy Scouts, Community Organizations and committees. He also played sports like Baseball and Lacrosse,  but Theatre could not stay away from him. He attended a performing arts middle and high school majoring in Musical Theatre and Vocal Performance. His training at those schools made his passion grow more and he discovered that he wanted to do this as a career. After graduating from Douglas Anderson School of The Arts, he was very grateful to get into his top choice BFA program, Ithaca College.

The cold might have been a shock, but Joel was so happy to be attending Ithaca. During his time he found life long friends, performed in IC Main Stage Productions, and joined 2 dance companies on campus; Rock-Hard Dance Company, and Unbound Dance Company. His experience at Ithaca not only allowed him to grow in all 3 areas of Musical Theatre, but it also allowed him to grow as human being. He met people from different countries, had amazing educators, and had great opportunities and experiences with friends that he cherishes.

After graduating in a pandemic, Joel spent 8 months living in his hometown Jacksonville, and worked as an Event Specialist for the City of Jacksonville. He planned city sponsored events like their Annual MLK Breakfast, World of Nations Celebration, and Jacksonville Jazz Fest. While Joel was working he started dancing again by taking open classes with the Jacksonville Dance Theatre company. It was relieving to him to be able to move his body in an open space, and to feel something familiar. This fueled Joel’s passion for making his art a career. Unexpectedly Joel was offered an opportunity to be apart of New London Barn’s 2021 Summer Season that involved 8 cast members to perform 4 shows in reparatory during the summer. After a lot of thinking, talking with friends and mentors, he accepted, moved out of Jacksonville and began his journey. His Summer at New London was a wonderful experience! Immediately following his time in New London, Joel booked his first cruise ship with Norwegian Cruise Line. He spent 6 months traveling around the Caribbean performing in “After Midnight” as a Singer/Dancer, and as The Joker in the UK show, “Choir of Man.” After his first contract, he spent 5 days at home, and began rehearsals for his 2nd contract with Norwegian as a Dancer in the show “Elements,” and Lyle in the musical “Footloose.” Joel’s experience on the ship brought him great experiences, amazing relationships, and personal growth.

After his time with Norwegian, Joel moved to New York City! While living there Joel has found a great community of people, and is thankful for every experience he has, good or bad. While being there and auditioning, Joel got a call that he will be making his National Tour Debut in the Musical Annie!!
